As well as providing electricity and heat, biogas is handy as a vehicle fuel. When processed to purity standards, biogas is named replaceable natural gas and can substitute for natural gas as an alternative fuel for natural gas vehicles. Since little scale units can be relatively simple to build and operate biogas should be used at once if at all possible ( for cooking, heating, lighting and assimilation refrigeration ), since both electricity generation and compression of gas ( for storage or use in automobiles ) use big quantities of energy for a little output of helpful energy. This idea is suited to “distributed” systems where waste is treated near the source, and sludge is also reused hereabouts, to reduce transport and initial capital cost compared with a “centralised” system. Energy is a mandatory concomitant of human existence. Though many sources of power exist in nature, it is coal, electricity and fossil oil which have been commercially exploited for many helpful purposes. This century has witnessed the remarkable growth of varied industries based mostly on these power sources. They have application in agricultural farms and have domestic use in one form or other.
It is evident that no single power source would be capable of replacing fossil oil completely which has diverse applications. From the other perspective, dependance on fossil oil would have to be reduced at a quicker pace so as to stretch its use for longer period and in vital sectors till some acceptable alternative power sources ideally replenish-able ones are provided.
Biogas that is generated during the process of anaerobic digestion is to be commonly used by gas engines, boilers, incinerators or other gizmos requiring consistent and regular supply of gas. For this regular supply of gas, adequately sized biogas handling systems are crucial between the gas supplying units and the application point. Always recall that biogas is in fact th gas generated when bacteria degrade biological material lacking the presence of oxygen.
